How Emmanuel House supported homeless people in Nottingham between April 2022 and June 2022
Emmanuel House is an independent charity that supports people who are homeless, rough sleeping, in crisis, or at risk of homelessness in Nottingham.
Between 1st April 2022 and 30th June 2022, 193 individual beneficiaries visited the Support Centre 698 times.
- We served 333 meals.
- We gave out 67 new items of clothing.
- We provided 47 hot showers.
- Our volunteer barber provided 45 haircuts.
- Beneficiaries participated in activities such as art, cooking classes, Streetwise Opera and allotment sessions 59 times.
- The Access Team conducted 140 different appointments, supporting people with benefits, health, homelessness, housing and benefits related issues.
Across the organisation, we achieved a total of 50 positive outcomes for our beneficiaries:
- 9 people are now in supported accommodation.
- 4 people are living in a private-rented tenancy.
- 3 people are in another type of accommodation, such as hostels or shared accommodation.
- 2 people are living in social housing.
- We supported 7 people into emergency accommodation, such as a hotel.
- 13 people have their full benefits in place.
- 1 person has obtained residency status.
- 2 people have set up a payment plan.
- 3 people were helped to obtain identity documents.
- 4 people registered with a GP.
- 1 person was enrolled in training and education.
- 1 person has started employment.
We have supported our beneficiaries to grow and develop a total of 212 times in the following ways:
- 30 people improved in their physical health
- 34 people improved in their mental health
- 29 people improved their ability to manage a tenancy
- 24 people improved their day-to-day living skills
- 26 people reduced the feeling of social isolation
- 14 people either reduced, or gained better control of their alcohol use
- 12 people either reduced, or gained better control of their substance misuse
- 15 people reduced their offending behaviour
It costs Emmanuel House £1500 a day to run the support centre and its Access team, which includes the provision of basic services for people who find themselves homeless in Nottingham.
We receive no statutory funding for this core service and we rely on donations from the public to keep it going.
