Now in it’s 11th week, The Nottingham Winter Shelter continues to be open each night from 8pm until 8am providing shelter and protection during the coldest months of the year.

Now the weather has turned to ice and frost, this is a life line for many whom are homeless and are sleeping rough, to prevent them being out in the freezing temperatures. Now in it’s third location, there are currently 21 beds and all are being used. Since opening in October, support workers have been able to reconnect three individuals with accommodation in their locality. They have also been able to move eight people into private rented accommodation and 12 people into supported accommodation.

We’ve also seen an ‘upgrade’ in the past week, where inflatable beds have been replaced with camp beds, so there’ll be no deflating of beds over night! This purchase was made possible through the fundraising of an individual and her friends who raised money during a festive gathering. The support and generosity of local individuals, groups and businesses along with money given through grants and trusts, really do make the difference to not just Emmanuel House but The Nottingham Winter Shelter.
