Case study on Nottinghamshire mental health support

Mike* is a 20-year-old transgender man. He was struggling with significant mental health issues and had recently been hospitalised. He had been made homeless due to domestic violence and relationship breakdowns within his family and had been referred to Asia by a Nottinghamshire local hostel.

Asia worked with Mike to ensure he had all the right benefits in place and provided ongoing emotional support. She makes sure he is engaging with his specific counselling for transgender people and arranged for further support from the local transgender community.

With Asia’s support, he is now living independently and they are bidding for properties through his local council. He is volunteering at a local theatre and is looking forward to the future with more positivity.
