Raymond has been homeless for a while, the struggle is real. Last week he was due to go and view a property with the intention of renting privately. He explains what happened…
“I got into a taxi but the journey to the place turned out to cost a lot more money than I had, all I had was a £10. We got to the address I had written down but it wasn’t there – we couldn’t find it! The taxi was really sorry but he said that he couldn’t drive me around anymore. I gave him the £10 and he gave me £2 back, even though it was much more than that.
I had to walk around for about another half an hour looking and eventually I found it. The landlord wasn’t very happy, but I explained and gave the taxi drivers name and details, I said that he can ring him and ask. He believed me and showed me around it. With the money that the taxi driver gave back to me I was able to get back to the Emmanuel House Support Centre.
The kindness of someone towards someone in need, in the midst of challenging circumstances, turned this situation into a positive experience for all of the people involved. Could you share a little kindness today?
