Emmanuel House Support Centre Homeless Charity Nottingham

We need your help: just £75,000 left to secure Emmanuel House’s future

UPDATE 24/03/26: We’ve now reached our target! Read the full story here.

For 50 years, Emmanuel House Support Centre has been a place of warmth, dignity and safety for people in Nottingham who are homeless, rough sleeping, in crisis or vulnerable. Thousands of people have walked through our doors seeking food, support, a shower, clean clothes – and often, simply a moment of kindness.

Today, we’re reaching out to our community with one of the most important appeals in our history.
We urgently need to raise £75,000 by the 31st of March to secure our building on Goose Gate and protect our services for decades to come.

A once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity

Emmanuel House Support Centre, in Nottingham

Nottingham City Council has generously offered us the chance to purchase our building outright. This is something we’ve never been able to do before. It means every service we provide, every meal we cook, every life we help rebuild will have a stable and permanent home.

The full cost of the purchase is £535,000. Thanks to generous donors and careful use of our reserves, we’ve already raised around £460,000. Now we’re asking the community to help us close the final gap.

This is where you come in.

“A wave of small acts of kindness can carry us over the finish line”

We believe this appeal belongs to the whole city. Every single donation matters, no matter its size.

“This is one of the most significant moments in our 50-year history in the city. We deeply value every donation, large or small. A gift of £5, £10 or £20 is just as meaningful to us as a major contribution and will help us reach our final £75k target. A wave of small acts of kindness can carry us over the finish line.”

~ Nicola Ramsdale, Marketing and Fundraising Manager

Why securing our building matters

Demand for our services is rising. We’re seeing more than three-times as many people through our doors as we did 2 years ago. Last year alone we had 25,000 visits from people needing support. We provided 17,000 meals, 3,000 sets of clothes, 2,700 hot showers and 550 haircuts.

We believe everyone has the right to a standard of living that supports their health and wellbeing. By contributing to our Building Fund, you will strengthen Nottingham’s homelessness prevention, intervention and recovery work, changing lives today and for generations to come.

“Owning our home will give Emmanuel House stability, resilience, and the freedom to plan confidently for the future. Through our values of kindness, compassion, and love, combined with professional expertise, we provide not just help in a crisis, but the relationships and community people need to survive, rebuild, and ultimately flourish.”

How you can help

Whether you live in Nottingham, love the city, or simply believe that everyone deserves safety and dignity, you can make a real difference.

1. Donate any amount

No amount is too small. £5, £10, £20… everything helps. If you can add Gift Aid, your donation increases by 25% at no extra cost.

2. Share our appeal

Tell a friend. Share the link online. Mention us at work or to your neighbours. Raising awareness is just as powerful as donating.

3. Hold a mini‑fundraiser

A bake sale, a sponsored walk, a dress‑down day at work – small ideas can have big impact.

We have until 31st March – and we believe we can do this together

With £75,000 left to raise, we’re closer than ever. And with your help – your kindness, your donations, your shares – we can secure our home and continue to offer hope, support and community to the people who need us most.

Thank you, from all of us at Emmanuel House, for standing with us at this crucial moment.
