Our team of Navigators provided one-to-one intensive support to rough sleepers in Nottingham city. We prioritised people with multiple and complex needs such as experience of domestic violence, mental illness, substance misuse, offending or homelessness. We could support people for a 12-18 month period, if required.
The SSS was funded by Nottingham City Council via the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
What did the Single Support Service do?
- Keep in regular phone contact with beneficiaries
- Support people to access benefits
- Navigate statutory services for beneficiaries
- Accompany people to appointments
- Co-ordinate packages of support
- Make referrals to specialist services for women, BAME communities or refugees
- Risk management through MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference)
- Support people to maintain their accommodation

Between April 2021 and March 2022, the team of Navigators actively worked with 76 people who were rough sleeping or at significant risk of returning to rough sleeping. 90% were found accommodation in either supported hostel, private-rented or emergency accommodation.
