Comfort Estates recently took on an epic mission to support Emmanuel House, setting out to collectively cover the equivalent distance from Nottingham all the way to the North Pole. That’s an incredible 2,559 miles completed through running, walking, cycling, and swimming.
Why They Took on the Challenge
This was more than a test of fitness and teamwork. Every mile was dedicated to raising vital funds for Emmanuel House, providing shelter, hot meals, and life-changing support for people facing homelessness in Nottingham. The target was simple yet ambitious: £1 for every mile travelled, aiming to raise £2,559. During the month, the Comfort Estates team also volunteered at our centre, serving breakfast to those in need, which was an incredibly rewarding experience for everyone involved.
The Journey
The challenge wasn’t easy. At the halfway point they still had almost 50% of the fundraising target left to reach, and there were moments when it looked like they might fall short. Despite this, the team stayed determined, putting in the effort every day through running, walking, cycling, and swimming to keep building up the miles and closing the gap.
As part of the challenge, they also partnered with Virgin Active Nottingham, who supported them with fantastic facilities and community spirit. From hosting a run club session to providing healthy post-workout smoothies, Virgin Active played a key role in keeping the team motivated and energised.
Smashing the Target
Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters and the tireless effort of the Comfort Estates team, the challenge didn’t just meet expectations – it exceeded them. They completed the full 2,559 miles and raised an amazing £2,749 in total.

A Heartfelt Thank You
We would like to say a huge thank you to Comfort Estates, their team, and everyone who donated, supported, and cheered them on throughout the challenge. These contributions will directly help tackle homelessness in Nottingham and make a real difference in people’s lives.
Looking Ahead
The Nottingham to North Pole Challenge may be complete, but the partnership between Emmanuel House and Comfort Estates has shown the power of coming together with a shared goal. We are excited to continue building on this achievement and to see what can be accomplished next.
