Can you stand with Emmanuel House every month by giving regularly towards the food and services that helps us welcome, nourish, and support people every week?
As we launch this year’s Harvest Campaign, we are appealing to our community to help provide the steady, reliable support that keeps our kitchen running every week. Regular donations make a lasting difference, helping us plan ahead and cover the monthly food and services bill that provides nourishing meals for people who are homeless or experiencing crisis.

Food is one of the simplest but most important ways we welcome people through our doors. A hot meal, breakfast, or snack can be the first step towards building trust, accessing support, and moving towards safety and stability. By setting up a regular gift, supporters can help ensure those meals are available not just at Harvest, but throughout the year ahead.
“We are incredibly grateful for every tin, jar, and pound donated by our supporters. We couldn’t keep our doors open if it wasn’t for this support.” said Isabella Harriss, CEO of Emmanuel House. “This year, we are asking people to consider whether they could support us with a regular financial donation. A small monthly direct debit could help us manage our costs, respond to changing need, and continue offering a warm meal and a warm welcome to people who need us.”
How you can help
- Set up a regular donation: Give monthly to help cover the ongoing food bill and provide reliable support throughout the year.
- Donate essential items: Bring non-perishable items to the Emmanuel House Support Centre at 53-61 Goose Gate, Nottingham, NG1 1FE, Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm.
- Shop online: Purchase items from the Emmanuel House Amazon Wishlist to be delivered directly to the centre.
- Send supermarket vouchers: when purchasing gift cards, use ‘Emmanuel House’ as the recipient and donations@emmanuelhouse.org.uk as the contact.
- Share our appeal: share with your friends, family, colleagues, clients, neighbours, community and faith groups.
- Volunteer: join our kitchen volunteer team. Right now, we’re keen to enrol a lunchtime cook – Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification required.

How your support makes a difference
Emmanuel House runs a weekday support centre as well as the Nottingham Night Shelter, both of which serve meals. As well as meeting basic human needs, food provides a gateway to an improvement in physical health and mental wellbeing. By offering meals, we provide care and compassion and we’re able to restore dignity that might have been lost during experiences of homelessness.
The demand for meals remains consistently high, with between 80 and 90 people visiting the centre every day and an average of 30 to 50 people attending each meal service. Over the last four weeks alone, we’ve served 1,380 meals. This is why dependable, ongoing support is so valuable. Regular donations help us buy fresh food, top up essential supplies, and make sure there is always enough to offer people who come through our doors.
Every month we spend over £500 on supermarket shops and on our weekly fruit and veg box. Whilst we rely on donations of tins and non-perishable food, we must buy fresh ingredients such as milk, bread, meat and vegetables to make the meals as nutritious and tasty as they can be.

Alongside regular financial support, we still need to receive donations of the essential items used every week. Our current wish list includes:
- Ingredients: granulated sugar, jars of cooking sauces, tinned vegetables, sunflower oil.
- Breakfast: baked beans, individual porridge pots, breakfast cereal, coffee, marmalade.
- Snacks: Pot noodles, instant pasta pots, cereal bars, biscuits.
“Sustained support gives us stability,” Isabella Harriss added. “It means we can plan our meals, keep our fridges and shelves stocked, and continue offering consistent support to people at some of the most difficult points in their lives. We are asking businesses, schools, faith groups, and individuals to stand alongside us this Harvest and beyond.”
