Grassroots Vocal Workshops – have fun and find your voice

We are thrilled to announce a new and exciting collaboration with the exceedingly talented and accomplished performing duo Neil Allen and Tim Lole.

Through their local company VoiceChoice, they will be delivering a series of weekly vocal workshops for wellbeing. Sessions will be aimed at anyone in the community who is feeling vulnerable or isolated or who has experienced homelessness. They are open to ‘allcomers’ and designed to give participants the opportunity to find their voices, express themselves as creative individuals and help them to build a positive attitude about themselves.

Neil and Tim explain: “Sessions will be fun, engaging and, above all, energising. They will be based around singing and drama, with warm-up games and exercises. While the focus will be on participation and having fun, they will also introduce good basic posture and breathing practice for increased well-being.”

Workshops will take place every week from Wednesday 9th June 2021, 3pm-5pm at Non Such Studios, 92 Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, NG1 1EH. If you are interested please contact grassroots@voicechoice.org.uk or phone 07824 041285.

Neil and Tim will be known to many in Nottingham as the Opera Dudes, as well as for their work as workshop leaders with Streetwise Opera for over ten years. Neil and Tim have over 40 years’ experience of running workshops between them.

Neil Allen started singing in the pubs and clubs of Nottingham, when he was still working as a builder. After a lengthy period retraining as an operatic tenor, he now performs all over the world.

Tim Lolefirst sang as a cathedral chorister before studying at Cambridge and pursuing a career as a conductor and pianist. He soon realised that tenors have all the fun!

It was opera that brought the two together and cemented their friendship.

We look forward to the workshops starting and can’t wait for their first performance.
