1,000 Free Haircuts for Homelessness: A Huge Milestone for Emmanuel House’s Volunteer Barber

Marcus has provided over 1,000 haircuts to people who are homeless since he started volunteering at our Support Centre in 2019.

We recently presented Marcus with this certificate to celebrate his 1,000th haircut.

People who are homeless in Nottingham can attend fortnightly sessions at Emmanuel House to get a free haircut. We find that offering this service helps people with their mental wellbeing, as it can provide a feeling of normalcy and help re-ignite people’s sense of self. A professional haircut can also help people create a positive impression at appointments and job interviews.

A huge thank you to Marcus for completing this milestone. When he received the certificate, he said he was pleasantly surprised as he “had no idea” he was close to his thousandth haircut.

Marcus is a professional Barber and can cut hair for any gender. Click these links to find out about other services and activities we provide.
