12 runs of Christmas in 24 days

We love celebrating the achievements of our star fundraisers and we want to say a massive thank you to Priya, aged 7, and her family and friends for their fundraising efforts this winter.

Leading up to Christmas, Priya began thinking of ways she could help others. Having taken part in her first Robin Hood mini marathon last year, she decided to take the opportunity during lockdown to get back into running and to raise money to help people facing homelessness.

Priya decided upon a “12 Runs of Christmas” challenge. Each run was a minimum of 1.5 miles (with some longer ones) and she also completed a series of 10 challenges in just 24 days – a mix of fitness and festive, ranging from star jump challenges to dressing up and running in festive gear.

Priya showed huge commitment to achieving her goal, never losing motivation and dragged her dad out on the coldest, darkest days of December evenings and frosty weekend mornings. Priya successfully completed her challenge on Christmas Eve, powering through her longest run of 3 miles around Colwick Lake.

Fantastic fundraising total

Through the generosity of friends and family, Priya has been able to raise a fantastic total of £631.25 (including Gift Aid) in sponsorship for Emmanuel House. Priya chose Emmanuel House after reading about some of our services and support we provide to some of the most vulnerable and isolated adults in Nottingham.
