For week four of the Womanuel project, service users, facilitators and staff explored positivity. Below, one of the staff members talks us through the session and its success:
To start the session, we began with group drama-based activities, including dance, passing the ball and sharing a positive from everyone’s week. This gave everyone the opportunity to relax and think about the previous week and its high points.
Moving on from positives of ourselves, we then spoke about the positive things we see in each other and shared with the group. This worked really well, as we are now in week four, the service users, facilitators and staff are starting to communicate well and have had the opportunity to get to know each other. During this, we listened to a playlist of music made up from a selection of the service users requests. The use of music set a great atmosphere to discuss in.For the final part of the session, we looked through magazines for images and words that we each liked or related to. As part of the work to take away with us, we are going to make them into a collage and share with the group next week. We will then use them in a new art project the group is exploring.
The Womanuel project will run for six weeks and is facilitated by Nottingham-based external creative agency, Nonsuch. The sessions are designed to encourage social interaction and offer a relaxed environment in which to express and explore different areas of interest.
