Michael first visited Emmanuel House three years ago when a friend recommended he joined him on his daily visit. Having recently been resettled into a one bedroom flat with the help of Emmanuel House, we had a chat to him about his experiences and how visiting us had helped change his life.
“Emmanuel House has given me salvation, a place to come and get away from life’s pressures. For me, the best thing about the support I have received from Emmanuel House is the advice and help around housing. Without the support staff here offering friendly and helpful advice and information, I would have been alone and wouldn’t have known where to start. After discussing my housing situation and working with Emmanuel House Support Staff, I have now been introduced to my current one bed flat. Emmanuel House have been there to guide me through the process and without their help it would have proved to be very stressful, if not impossible. Emmanuel House has also provided opportunities and services that I have enjoyed. Among many things, the meals, activities, art group, singing workshops and visits to the allotment where I have grown vegetables and fruit, are all great”.
Every day we work with service users to assess their needs and provide support. As well as providing basic services such as access to showers and laundry services, freshly cooked meals, clothing, and social inclusion activities, we also have the provision in place to offer tenancy and housing support, information on benefits, medical and legal advice and mental health support. Our main objective is to support homeless, vulnerable and isolated adults and to help them get a home of their own.
