On Friday 22nd June we celebrated the launch of Back On My Feet, the charity single by 38 Nottingham Musicians written by Cibele Alvarenga. All of the profit and royalties from the sale of the single will be split between ourselves and Framework.
The song is made up of lyrics featuring the real stories from homeless adults in Nottingham, collected/written into individual verses by singer/songwriter Cibele, instrumental input from the whole band (including a 14 piece string/flute section), and some phenomenal singers who have all been chosen for their unique and individual styles – spoken word and rap included!
To kick-start the launch of this fantastic single (available on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp) we were delighted to be invited to The Bodega to see the song performed live, along with a whole host of support acts, including very special surprise collaborations with “never-worked-with-before” guest artists who feature on the single. This show was a free event where the audience were encouraged to donate, buy raffle tickets and of course, buy the single. It was a great evening filled with talent with a real passion to make a change.
38 Nottingham Musicians was formed by Cibele after over two years of communicating with local homeless people in Nottingham with the intention of putting music to the lyrics she has written to help. The result is fantastic. The song is a wonderful portrayal of so many stories that need to be told. Search for Back On My Feet on iTunes, Amazon or Bandcamp to listen to the song and support us.
