For many of our visitors, Emmanuel House is their lifeline. Here’s how we helped Andrew get a home of his own.
In June, having just been released from prison, Andrew found himself on the street, with nowhere to live and no benefits. Since then, Andrew has worked alongside and received support from the Wellbeing Support Team and Emmanuel House support staff to register with a GP and get a repeat prescription, engage with Housing Aid and the Street Outreach Service, make applications for accommodation, claim for benefits and open a bank account.
Andrew has mainly lived in hostels or shared accommodation in the past and in July he was given the keys to move into a shared house. This is a great milestone in his journey. Andrew intends to continue to visit Emmanuel House and wants to buy the advanced meal vouchers to help him budget. Andrew will be working with the Wellbeing Support team to look at college opportunities once he has settled into his new home.
Once again, your support has enabled Emmanuel House support one of our service users in finding a place to call home.
